22nd October 2017
Windsurfing: Bradfield
Wind Direction: W
Wind Stength: 25-30 kts
Surf / Sea State: bumpy middle
Air Temperature: warmish
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: good
Max Speed: 29.35 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 12.3 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

First sail for 2 weeks with all the wind about. So weak on return as not been gym either. Several regulars ready to go on arrival, Neil Ian Squiz Dave Paul Jay Craig. Plenty of water on from 11am, weather great, but wind looked light from the beach due to wind shadow. Needed a bit more North. Heavies rigged 7m lights 5.5+ and I went with RRD 7m / Goya 130 due to beach shadow. At first I was under except in the middle, with nice rolling swells to kick off. Some went towards Manningtree where the wind seemed cleaner, but my 42 fin kept spinning out with the 7M when I powered up. The wind freshen and bloody hell the middle was way too much at times, and lost control in the larger gusts. It was great on the far side as it flattened and OK to gybe. Others were flying, but didn't want to fall in so just went bank to bank mainly. Joined them up towards Manningtree. Kept getting low speeds 26kt when Squiz hit 30kt which was frustrating. Colsey said back off the downhaul an inch and let the outhaul off to negative. It did jump the speeds up to 28kts but I was even more out of control as the gusts hit 30 knots and had to bear of in the big swells. The mid sections were taking its toll so I was having to rest on the far bank. Craig and Dave kept tearing about. Paul D did well sailing 5.6 and tiny board on the edges. Let off another 2cm downhaul and got up to 29.35kts which is a shame as ran out of water whilst on the drag. Next time. Packed up as way too over in the middle and the gear did not look safe when I cranked power on. Colsey still hanging on to 7M borrowed my GT31 to record a nice 30.75 knots on a big gusts. Now he wants one. Another nice sail, but low mileage 12nm
